Meet The Postpartum Doulas

Hi, I'm Laura Swift and a full-time postpartum Doula. I describe myself as a tall and soft Grammie with messy bed hair, wearing jeans, keens, and white shirts.

I have always loved every part of motherhood and the reason I studied nursing was to help take the fear out of childbirth for families. Labor and delivery was my first love and after twenty-five years, I discovered birth photography.

In 2020, I became a Doula so I could still support my birth clients AND bring my camera along. To my surprise, I fell in love with Doula work and especially postpartum support. I wanted each new family to have the best start possible.

My favorite part of postpartum doula work is watching the mom become a mother. It's like watching a flower open. She gets more beautiful with time. New moms are like that flower, growing in confidence and love for their child. I also love hearing about their birth experience.

I offer in-person and virtual postpartum doula support in Middle Tennessee and my clients call me "Grammie Doula". With 25 years as a labor and delivery nurse and then 10 years as a birth photographer, doula work has my heart.

I am a mom to 3 grown children, 6 grandchildren and a baby in heaven. I live in a one story house with an awesome front porch and my gray-bearded husband and four pets that prefer his company over mine.

Hi, I’m Karah! I am a Postpartum Doula serving Livingston, Cookeville, and the
immediate surrounding areas. With a background of 8 years of experience as a
professional nanny, I discovered a passion for postpartum care while working closely
with families with newborns and young infants. While working for these families, I began
to notice just how often the mother can become forgotten in the midst of everyone’s
excitement for the new baby. I began to strive to provide not only the best care to the
children under my watch, but to also provide as much support as I could to their
mothers.
When I began networking in my local community and learned what a postpartum doula
was, I decided to take the next step in providing the best support possible, and trained
as a Postpartum Doula through DONA and Newborn Care Specialist through Newborn
Care Solutions. I have been working as a postpartum doula for one year now, and
absolutely love it! Every day I go into work, I strive to do whatever I can to make the
family’s day a little bit easier: whether it be providing a listening ear, washing dishes,
doing a load of laundry, helping prep a meal, or caring for baby overnight so the parents
can get some much needed rest. It is my goal that both while I am in their homes and
after I have left, families can take a deep breath and feel a sense of calm knowing that
while they are learning to care for their babies, I am helping to care for them.

Hi, I’m Becca ! A postpartum doula who believes every family deserves to feel cared for, supported, and seen during the fourth trimester and beyond. I’ve spent over 20 years working with families, including ten as a nanny and several more as a caretaker, and those experiences have given me a deep understanding of what it means to show up with compassion and calm in life’s tender moments.

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest with an appreciation for natural beauty, 90s country music, and the comfort that comes from a good home-cooked meal. I bring humor, heart, and an almost alarming knowledge of song lyrics to my work — because sometimes what a new parent needs most is a helping hand, a warm meal, and someone who can make them laugh when the day feels long.
